Mr. Edward J. Cameron, Jr., 76, of Bellingham passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, at the Brockton VA Medical Center.
Born on July 16, 1947, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Ed's life was a testament to his creative spirit, intelligence, and sense of adventure.
The son of the late Edward and Harriet (Smith) Cameron, he was a graduate of Bellingham High School and the former New England School of Art. His education laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career. Ed owned and operated his own design-build consulting and construction company in Bellingham. He took immense pride in his steel structures for various clientele.
Ed served in the U.S. army domestically during the Vietnam War.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ed's life was rich with love and family. He shared 54 beautiful years with his wife, Christina Cameron, who was his partner in both life and his many travels around the world. Together they explored new places, creating a tapestry of memories that would last a lifetime.
Ed's legacy lives on through his daughter, Kathryn G. Cameron of Bellingham and his son, Edward J. Cameron, III and his wife Lara of Ridgefield, CT. His sister, Nancy, and her husband Howard Drake of Bellingham, also survive him. He leaves many nieces and nephews and his five adoring grandchildren: William, Jana, Amelia, Edward IV, and Corinne, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and wisdom.
Ed was predeceased by his close friend and brother, Rod Cameron.
Ed's interests were as varied as they were passionate. A talented artist, he loved painting, sketching and pinstriping. His collection of specialty art pens was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his love for the detail and precision in art. His creative soul found joy not only in visual arts but also in the great outdoors. Ed was an enthusiastic fisherman, the quiet patience of the sport contrasting with his excitement for motorcycles. The open road called to him, as did the open waters, and he answered with the same adventurous spirit that he approached all aspects of his life.
Those who knew Ed will remember him as a man who brought creativity and intelligence to everything he did. His humor and stories captivated any audience. He was known for lending a hand to anyone in need and was a mentor to many. As a family man, an artist, and a businessman, Ed's contributions were many and his presence will be deeply missed.
Ed Cameron's life was a portrait of a man who built not just structures, but a legacy of integrity, artistry, and adventure.
As we say farewell to this remarkable individual, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left on the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His story is one of a life well-lived, full of passion, purpose, and love. Ed's memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his life has done for so many years.
A memorial service will be in the Buma – Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford on Saturday February 10th, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a remembrance at 12:45 pm.
