DUKE, Edward Douglas, affectionately known as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 66.
Ed completed his early education at Stebbins High School, where he first discovered his passion for football-a sport that would play a significant role throughout his life. His talent and dedication on the field earned him a place at Earlham College, where he continued to excel in the sport. Later, he furthered his education at Wright State University, earning a Bachelor's degree. A man of diverse interests and talents, Ed was known for his love of weightlifting, which he pursued with the same vigor and discipline he applied to every endeavor. He carried his athletic spirit into his work life at Needmore Vending, where he was not just a valued employee but also a teammate, playing flag football with his coworkers, creating lasting memories and bonds.
Beyond the football field, Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He found joy and tranquility in activities such as shooting, golfing, and kayaking-pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature and share experiences with his friends and family. These activities were not just pastimes; they were expressions of Ed's love for adventure and his appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
Ed's legacy is carried on through his beloved family. He was a loving father to his two children, Wesley Duke and Courtney Duke and a devoted brother to Jeff Duke. His guidance, humor, and support shaped their lives profoundly, and his presence will continue to be felt in their hearts and memories.
His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have shared in Ed's life and his many passions. He may have left this world, but the impact of his presence will continue to be felt. Rest in peace, Ed; your memory will always be cherished. As we say farewell to Edward Douglas Duke, let us not dwell on the loss but celebrate the life he led and the lives he touched.
Services and great care are entrusted to Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home. Condolences, fond memories and photos may be shared on Ed's memorial page found at: www.DaytonFunerals.com
