Toni Meredith-Reinke, age 90, passed away surrounded by her loved ones in her home on September 3, 2025. Toni was born in Colfax, Indiana on July 12, 1935, to John and Earlene (Brasel) Crick and was the oldest of four children. She spent her life in service to others. Toni met Donald Meredith while studying for her registered nursing degree at Earlham College and married him on August 12, 1956. After receiving her nursing degree, she spent many years raising their three children before going back to school at Saint Joseph on the Mount College to become a Nurse Practitioner. Toni became the second nurse practitioner in Wayne County and served her community in various positions over several decades: in the Wayne County jail, in Richmond Community Schools, as a director of the nursing division for the health department, in the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightstown, IN, and in private practice. When her husband Don's health started to decline, she stepped back from nursing to care for him until his passing in 2001. Toni later partnered with the Rock Solid Ministries board to oversee the start of the Siloam Free Medical Clinic. She served on various boards in her retirement, including the Reid Foundation and Adult Day Care of Richmond to name a few. Toni received the IU East Lifetime Achievement in Nursing Award in 2016 for her career as a registered nurse and her contributions to the profession and community. Toni married Robert "Bob" Reinke in 2005 and spent many happy years with him until his passing in 2021. When she started to lose her vision, she didn't let that slow her down; she founded a low vision support group in Richmond to help others struggling with sight. Toni traveled extensively throughout her life, using her nursing skills to help the poor in Haiti, the Philippines, China, and India. She was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church, and her greatest joy was serving others and in spending time with her family and friends.
Her legacy of love and service lives on in her surviving family: daughters, Anne (John) Dalton and Emily (Tim Young) Meredith; son, John (Gayla) Meredith; step-children, Ann Reinke, Kurt (Cat) Reinke, Mark (Lisa) Reinke, and Karen Reinke; grandchildren, Tricia (Michael) Russell, Thomas (Julie) Meredith, Hannah (Jason) Wright, and Meredith Young; several step-grandchildren; great grandchildren, Natalie Meredith, Elise Wright, Jonathan Wright, Lena Meredith, Stella Meredith, and Anabelle Wright; several step-great-grandchildren; brother, Jeff Crick; sister-in-law, Janet Crick; brother-in-law, Ernest Martin; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Meredith, and husband Robert Reinke; parents; sister, Doris Martin; and brother, Joe Crick.
