Edward L Mann Jr, 69, passed away on Friday, May 31st, 2024. Ed was born on January 14, 1955, to Matilda and Edward Mann in New Jersey.
Ed Mann began playing piano at the age of 3, acquired a drum kit at age 11, played with rock, marching, orchestra, concert, pit and big band ensembles as a teen while studying at New England Music Camp. After graduating from Monument Mountain Regional High School in 1972, Ed entered the Hartt College of Music, where he learned and performed symphonic, jazz, experimental and 20th Century music. In 1973 Ed moved to California to study at California Institute of the Arts. At Cal Arts.
Ed's professional musician career includes a comprehensive discography, winner of top awards, 6 critically acclaimed CDs of original music, composition of music and sound for interactive media and film, international performer, sound artist, consultant and workshop facilitator.
He is survived by his son Xander Mann, sister Rebecca Mann and brother Robert Mann.

Met Ed in 1979, we had the same mentor, John Bergamo,
both attended CAL ARTS at different time

Did gigs together of the years usually with the
GRAND MOTHERS OF INVENTION,
FRANK ZAPPA ALUMNUS
Been playing with them consistently since 2002
Ed did a few gigs with us in Europe, usually as a one off,
but he also participated in the GMOI FAREWELL TOUR in 2018
