Edward Lee McCoy, age 54, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital.
He was born in Ravenna, Ohio and was the son of Freddie Lee McCoy of Pounding Mill, Virginia and the late Brenda Blankenship McCoy. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a heavy equipment operator. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, HC and Martha McCoy and maternal grandparents, Cornelius and Fannie Blankenship; and several uncles and aunts.
Survivors are:
Father: Freddie Lee McCoy
Wife: Patty Lawson McCoy
Brothers:
James McCoy of Pounding Mill, Virginia
Jeffrey McCoy of Pounding Mill, Virginia
Step Children: Beth Vance and Amanda Strouth
Step Grandchildren: Holly Vance, Madison Strouth, and Dustin Vance
Aunts: Bonnie Blankenship, Kathy Blankenship, Teresa Lester, Vickie Lester, and Henrietta Hardin
Uncles: Billy McCoy and Eddie Blankenship
Nephews: Bryan Charles McCoy, Dustin Ray McCoy, and Jeffrey Tyler McCoy
Niece: Taylinn McVoy
Several cousins also survive. Special thanks to Savannah and the nurses of CVMC ICU.
Funeral services for Edward Lee McCoy will be conducted Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Pastor Larry Rife officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit from 6pm until 9pm on Thursday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com
