Edward Everette Montgomery III

Edward Everette Montgomery III passed away on April 10 at his home on Lake Guntersville, with family and friends at his side. He is survived by his his wife of over 70 years, Anne Montgomery, and children Edward E (Sandy) Montgomery IV, Andrea Reynolds, and Diana Welsh. He was affectionately known as "Monty" to his friends and Anne and "Granddaddy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active member of Warrenton Methodist Church and co-founded Warrenton-based Boy Scout Troop #279. Monty served as Engineering Officer on the USS Fessenden during the Korean War and retired as Commander in the United States Navy in 1995. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in Finance and later earned a master's degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech. In 1963, he co-founded the Warrenton Cablevision Company (later purchased by Charter Communications), chiefly to bring televised football games to the Guntersville area. Monty was an avid runner who placed in many 10k races across North Alabama, including the annual Wild Irish Run. He was a member of Warrenton Methodist Church for 51 years and served in leadership position there. At the same time he began working on the Resdstone Arsenal. He retired from the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command as Director of the Lethality Division. Funeral service will be at Warrenton Methodist Church at a time to be announced

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Shepherds Cove Hospice.
