Edward Wirth Obituary

He was a devout Catholic and a founding member of St. Athanasius Church. Ed was a compassionate, loving, giving, sharing and caring person. He lived a life of stewardship including his work at St. Francis of Assisi as well as volunteering at St. Rita, St. Athanasius and the Boy Scouts. Ed loved music and was a member of his high school chorus, high school quartet, and the Thoroughbred Chorus.
Edward was loved by many and was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Edward F. Wirth; sister Martha Ann Rooney and his beloved wife Mary Elizabeth. He remains loved and is survived by two daughters, Mary Jacinta, Mary Anita (Ray); three sons, Ted (Mary), Paul (Karen) and Damien (Amy); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and godchildren. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be Tuesday, the 2nd of August from 2-8 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 3rd at 10 a.m. from his church, St. Athanasius, 5915 Outer Loop, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Athanasius Parish and online condolences may be shared at www.ratterman.com.

We met Ed at St. Athanasius Church. I was blessed to have met him and act as an usher with him. He was always pleasant and a pleasure to talk to. I'm sure he is with his wife in heaven looking down on us all waiting to greet us when the time comes.

Ed was the nicest man I ever met. He was friendly, easy to talk to and pleasant to be around.
He was certainly a gift from God to everyone who knew him.

I worked with Ed this year counting and recording the St Athanasius Church collection. He and I would take the money to the bank for deposit. I became friends with him and we had many conversations. I was able to get to know him and I was very impressed. He was a good man and easy to talk to. I was blessed to know him and I will miss him greatly.
