Edward Zakrzewski Obituary
The funeral service will be held on August 13th 2022, 12:00 PM at Emmerson Bartlett Funeral Home Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, California with a celebration of life at 3:00 PM at Edwards Mansion, 2064 Orange Tree Lane, Redlands, CA 92374. The final burial will be held on August 26th 2022, 9:30 AM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
Edward was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on June 7th 1948. He graduated from Holyoke High School and continued on to St.Thomas More Preparatory. He entered the United States Air Force and earned a degree from Purdue University, finishing his education with a Master's Degree from Chapman College.
He was married to Adel (Hernandez) Zakrzewski from 1973 until her passing in 1999.
Edward had a distinguished career in the United States Air Force for 33 years, including a position as Director of the Office of Space Launch, National Reconnaissance Office. He was a Mission Director for numerous successful space launches. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked as an engineer for Scitor Corporation.
His hobbies and activities included golfing and spending time with his daughter and granddaughters. He ran an annual Red Baron golf tournament for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He donated to charities such as the American Cancer Society and Catholic Charities.
Edward is survived by his sister Barbara Gagnon (of MA), his brother Gregory Zakrzewski (of SC), his daughter Anne Marie Johnson (of OH), his granddaughters Kristin, Ashley and Courtney Johnson (of OH) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Edward is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Anna Zakrzewski and his wife Adel Zakrzewski.
