Edwin E. Jenkins, Jr., 82, of Elmer, passed away on March 26, 2025. Born in Woodbury, he was the son of Edwin Sr. and Esther Hughes Jenkins.
Edwin was a proud graduate of Woodstown High School and attended Bob Jones University for one year before embarking on a career with Mobile in Paulsboro, where he worked as a Senior Lab Technician until his retirement. He also served in the National Guard for six years.
A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Elmer, Edwin's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent, a Deacon, and a Youth Group Leader. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Beyond his church involvement, Edwin had a passion for motorcycles. He loved riding with his wife, Lois, taking trips and capturing pictures of covered bridges along the way. Together, they were members of the "Folks with Spokes" motorcycle group, where they enjoyed organizing Tuesday night ice cream runs.
After retiring from Mobil, Edwin found fulfillment in giving back to his community. He volunteered at Elmer Hospital, performed maintenance work at the Hoffman Buildings, and helped mow for Carl Mehaffey Nursery. In the winter, he was known for clearing his neighbors' sidewalks and driveways after snowstorms. An expert handyman, he could fix just about anything and enjoyed crafting his own furniture.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of many years, Lois (nee: Garwood); his son, David and his wife, Dawn; his daughter, Kimi Jenkins; his brothers, Stephen Jenkins and his wife, Nachiko Nagami, and Daniel Jenkins and his wife, Susan; his sister-in-law, Elaine Romano; his two beloved grandchildren, Caleb and Zoe and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Romano.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Elmer, 209 Broad Street, Elmer, NJ, beginning at 9:30 AM, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Ed was a valued brother in Christ for many years. I'm going to miss him here on this Earth but look forward to seeing him again in the Kingdom that Christ has prepared for us.

I so admired and respected Ed. A great co-worker. Many years ago I remember telling Ed I was doing a small ramp building project. Ed showed up unexpectedly ready to work. That was Ed!

Ed will be so missed at church. We loved when he would sing solo's and all his involvement at church. He was involved in so many areas including VBS and decorating for Missions Conferences. As we watched him decline and miss more and more church activities are hearts grew heavy knowing it was only a matter of time when he would no longer be with us but the memories will go on. We will miss him so much.
