Edwin Ponce was born on November 10th, 1960, to the late Eladio Ponce and Violleta Vasquez Ponce in Camden, New Jersey. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Edwin attended Camden High School and later, Rutgers University. He spent his time either playing basketball with the Latineers Team or hanging with his friends, "the Hounds". Edwin was often spotted driving his car around town with its infamous playboy logo.
Edwin later moved to Atlantic City to pursue a career within the casino industry where he excelled as a Casino Floor Person. He also had an entrepreneurial spirit which led him and his brother Larry to buy a Deli in Atlantic City.
Edwin loved his family. He spent a lot of quality time with his nephews, Raphael Pereira, and Luis Cordero.
In 1996, Edwin's life made room for a son, Miles Benson. In 2000, Edwin and his brother, Papo moved their parents to Port Charlotte, Florida to improve their quality of life. Once in Florida, Edwin embraced his love of cars and worked as an Auto Mechanic and Manager of several shops
Life gave way to the loss of both his parents and after many years, Edwin found the love of his life, Claudia. Edwin and Claudia were together numerous years before she became his caregiver after his diagnosis of Thyroid Cancer in March of 2022.
Edwin went from laborer to reward on August 5th, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Eladio Ponce, his mother Violetta Ponce, and his sister Migdalia Ponce-Vazquez. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brothers, Larry Ponce and Ralph Ponce. His sisters, Lucy Ponce Martin, Nitza Ponce, and Lillian Ponce, and his son, Miles Benson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and the love of his life, Claudia.
