Edwin J. Reder

Edwin J. Reder, 84, of Riverdale, NJ, passed away on June 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Lincoln Park, NJ, Ed was the son of George and Clara Reder. He graduated from Boonton High School in 1959, then proudly served his country as a machinist's mate in the United States Navy. Following his time in the military, Ed began a long and dedicated career with Sears, Roebuck and Co., where he worked for 30 years, rising from service technician to branch manager. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership.
A longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, Ed's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was devoted to the Brooklyn Dodgers as a boy and became a New York Mets fan later in life. He also loved watching NASCAR races and was an avid fan of the sport. Above all else, Ed cherished his roles as husband, father and grandfather and always put his family first. Whether it was a large family gathering or a quiet game of chess with his granddaughter, he found joy in moments spent with those he loved.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Christine, his sons, John and his wife Kathleen, Michael and his wife Angela; his sister Doris Buske and her husband Hank; and was predeceased by his brother George and his wife Barbara. Ed was blessed to have three granddaughters Sara, Violet and Clara.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 6, 2025 at Scanlan's from 4-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes at 10AM Monday, July 7, 2025. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park & Cemetery, Totowa. Livestreaming will be available for the Funeral Mass. https://www.stmarys-pompton.org/worship-online
