With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eleanor May D'Aurizio (née Laughlin), who left
us on March 5, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on August 30, 1938, Eleanor was a devoted sister to Theresa Laughlin, Lucille Grady, and Thomas Laughlin and was predeceased by her brother, Walter Laughlin and her parents Marion Corey Laughlin Fay and Walter Laughlin.
Eleanor was originally from Corning, NY. She spent most of her adult life in Rochester, New York, where she built a loving home with her late husband, Angelo (The Hawk) D'Aurizio. Married for 51 years, their life together was filled with laughter, family, and countless cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to Antoinette (Toni) Kane (spouse, Jeffrey Kane), Louis D'Aurizio, and Marion D'Aurizio Hawkins (spouse, Lawrence Hawkins). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Louis Angelo D'Aurizio (who predeceased her in 2020), Lawrence Mark Hawkins Jr., Patrick John Hawkins, and Trevor Clifford Kane, and a cherished great- grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of Eleanor's life, and she shared deep bonds with her many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
After Angelo's passing, Eleanor made a bold move to Saint Petersburg, Florida in 2009, where she found an extended family among the many close friendships she made there. Special thank you to Barbara Lynne Sutherland, Amber Nicole Martin and Luke Richard Fowler for their love and care for Eleanor during her time in Florida.
An avid bowler and golfer for most of her adult life, Eleanor found joy and competition on the lanes and fairways, where she built lifelong friendships. Eleanor also had a deep love for animals, a passion throughout her life. She cherished her own pets deeply but also loved pet- sitting for friends, finding joy in caring for their animals as if they were her own. She was "The Pet Whisperer"
Eleanor's legacy is one of love, strength, independence, and deep family bonds. Her family will honor her memory in private, there will not be a service.
Rest in peace, Eleanor. Your love, independence, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who
knew and loved you.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CJ Paws Cat Rescue at https://cjpaws.org in her memory.
