Elena M. (Saluti) Lydon, a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at her home on July 22, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 4, 1933, in Quincy, MA, Elena was the cherished daughter of the late Nazarino and Ernestina (Cannella) Saluti.
Elena's life was one marked by devotion and service, beginning with her education at Quincy High School, where she laid the foundation for her future successes. Her career spanned many years as an administrative assistant at John Hancock Insurance Co., where her professionalism and dedication were evident to all who worked with her. As a loving wife of the late John J. Lydon, Elena was a true partner in life's journey, embodying the virtues of love and commitment. She was a loving mother to Cheryl Gibbons and her husband Richard of Voorhees, NJ.
Elena's siblings, the late Marie Klaske, Hugo Saluti, and Josephine Cumming, shared in the joys and sorrows of life with her, creating memories that would last a lifetime. As a cherished Grandmother to Meghan Gibbons and her fiancé Kyle Kunkle, and Morgan Patrican and her husband Marc, and a Great Grandmother to Alexander Patrican, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to flourish in the hearts of the younger generations.
Her nieces and nephews, who also survive her, will remember her as a generous and loving aunt. Elena's influence extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of everyone she met with her genuine care and generosity.
Elena's interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. She enjoyed wintering in Naples Florida. As an active member of the Braintree Womens Club and the Braintree Garden Guild, she shared her love for community and nature with others. Her faith was paramount, and as a devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church for over 60 years. Elena also shared her faith by teaching CCD at St. Francis, inspiring young minds with her spiritual guidance.
An excellent cook and baker, Elena's Christmas cookies were legendary, eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike. Her culinary talents were just one of the many ways she expressed her love and generosity.
Above all, Elena cherished the time spent with her family and granddaughters. The moments shared with them were the highlights of her life, filled with laughter, love, and the creation of cherished memories.
