Eliceo V. Angel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in
San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 89. He was born September 6, 1935, in Comfort, Texas, to parents Manuel and Elisa Angel. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Elisa Angel, brothers Ruben Angel, Alfred Angel, Raul Angel and sister Olga Sanchez. He is survived by siblings Arnold Angel, Manuel Angel, Maryann Rodriguez, Nancy Angel, Felix Angel, Ruben Angel Jr. and Henry Angel.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Maria Angel, their loving children Judy (Terence) Byrnes, Susan Angel, Eli Angel, and Jaime (Tina) Angel, as well as his adored grandchildren Deidra, Delayna, Stephen, Rudy, Robert, Christina, Andrew, David, and Erica. Eliceo also experienced the joy of his 10 great-grandchildren and a 1 great-great-grandchild, who will all carry forward the light of his legacy.
Eliceo proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1974. His most memorable achievement in the Air Force was as chief of police for all military personnel on the island of Mallorca off the eastern coast of Spain in the mid 1960's. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued working for the government with the Immigration and Naturalization Service until 1990. His contribution to his country and community extended beyond his professional life through his Christian faith and active involvement, making positive impacts that will be remembered by all.
Anyone who knew Eliceo understood that family was his cornerstone. His marriage to Maria was a profound example of enduring love and partnership. He took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow into remarkable individuals, each pursuing their unique path while reflecting the values he held dear. His home was often filled with laughter and lively conversation, a testament to the warmth he provided.
A true Texan at heart, Eliceo found solace in the tranquility of the great outdoors. He poured love and effort into building a cabin on his property, in the hill country, a physical emblem of his handy and creative spirit. Those who visited often found themselves enveloped in his thoughtful and funny nature, particularly when he shared tales that only he could tell, leaving everyone in stitches.
Eliceo V. Angel will be remembered as a loving, funny, and handy man. His uncanny ability to provide for and protect his family is the framework upon which decades of cherished memories were built. His endearing charm and steadfast presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Goodbyes are not easy, especially for someone who played such a pivotal role in the fabric of so many lives. Still, the family takes comfort in knowing that Eliceo lived a full, vibrant, and honorable life. His spirit, wisdom, and the laughter he inspired remain as guideposts for all who were blessed to know him. Eliceo V. Angel's legacy will continue to live on through the stories retold and the lives he touched, a perpetual reminder of a life well-lived.
