Elizabeth A. Koschnick

Elizabeth A. (Claypool) Koschnick, 82, Mooresville, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Liz was born September 19, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Edward and Genevieve (Bryant) Claypool. She married the late Clarence J. "Buddy" Koschnick September 1, 1962, and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2019.
Liz graduated from Ladywood Academy and continued her education at St. Mary of the Woods College. She taught at Little Flower grade school for several years before her five children were born. She assisted her parents in the family business, Claypool Dress Shop for many years. Her "retirement" work consisted of jobs at the former Theo's Garden and Turandot, both in Broad Ripple. After moving to Mooresville, she became a member of the Morgan County Coalition for Literacy and volunteered as a literacy tutor for adults. She was an avid reader, loved the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle, and was very competitive when playing Yahtzee and Scrabble. Liz was a devout Catholic and most recently was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where she was a part of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Women's Club, and the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Liz's favorite vocation revolved around her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Magaw. Liz believed strongly in family traditions, such as Easter Bunny Cake, First Communion Breakfast, Christmas Eve gatherings, and singing "Happy Birthday" loudly to her family members who all looked forward to the early morning birthday call. Her infectious laughter will always be in our hearts and on our minds. Liz will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends for her eternal optimism, kindness and selfless manner. We love you, Magaw.
In addition to her parents and Buddy, she was also preceded in death by her brother, John Claypool and her grandmother, Marie Lutz, with whom she had a special relationship.
Survivors include her five children, Chuck (Julie) Koschnick of Richmond, Mary Catherine (Scott) Brown of Indianapolis, Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" (Chris) Branson of Mooresville, Chris (Emily) Koschnick of Indianapolis, and Mary Clare Koschnick of Indianapolis; brother, Joe (Julie) Claypool of Corydon; grandchildren, Katie (Quinn) Olson, Shelby Brown, Simon Brown, Lizzie Koschnick, Benjamin Branson, Buddy Branson, Grady Koschnick, Carter Baker.
Liz's Life Celebration® visitation will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville. Rev. Msgr. William F. Stumpf will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 23, 2021, 10:30 a.m., in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1200 N. Indiana Street, Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Thomas More or to the Morgan County Coalition for Literacy.
