Rensselaer -Elizabeth M. Palmer, 49, passed away in her home in Rensselaer on October 9, 2025, after battling metastatic breast cancer for the past 22, months. Elizabeth affectionately known as “ Biz” to everyone who knew her. She was born on March 7, 1976 in Greenville NY, the youngest of five siblings. Biz was the beloved daughter of Joseph and the late Elizabeth Malanga.
Biz graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1994, and later earned a teaching degree at Saint Rose.
Biz became an Elementary teacher in the Albany City School District for 22 years. Her last place of employment was Sheridan Prep. School in Albany, right up to two weeks ago. She was loved by faculty and students and admired by all. Even when she got “stressed” by the occasional classroom evaluations, she always came through with flying colors. Biz had an active social life, with co-workers, friends, and family. She had a special relationship with her older sister Carolyn and her family, whom she visited frequently with her daughter Emilie. She loved her husband George, and her most precious relationship was with her daughter Emilie. The two were inseparable for years. She was a great and loving mother and always there for her family. To know Biz was to love Biz. She was the kindest, most caring and tender-hearted person and would help anyone in need. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Biz is survived by her beloved husband of 21 years George Palmer. Daughter Emilie Palmer. Father Joseph Malanga. Siblings, Joseph Malanga, Lisa (Rick) Flynn, Carolyn (Todd) Nolte, Carmine (Alicia) Malanga. A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
