Ellen resided with her daughter June Laughlin, who she lovingly referred to as "Sarge". Ellen was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was born in Bainbridge, NY. She attended Corning Free Academy high school. She worked as a waitress, a caretaker, and a factory worker. Ellen was passionate about many things, including her family, westerns, games, country music, soap operas, reading and crossword puzzles. She was the type of person you could go to with anything and she would always welcome you in with open arms.
She is survived by her children: Dean W. Laughlin and his wife, Phyllis, Allen L. Laughlin, Craig L. Laughlin, June E. Harkenrider and her husband, Robert, Rebecca I. Banda and her husband, Danny, Walter G. Laughlin and his wife, Priscilla, Ellen M. Mornhineway and her husband, Joseph. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sean Laughlin, Dean (Dusty) Laughlin, Brandie Kelsey, Carrie Hilsinger, Craig Laughlin, Jr., Sarah White, Anna Banda Phillips, Amber Harkenrider, James Harkenrider, Kevin Laughlin, Amanda Laughlin, and Caitlin Schaeppi. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren. Lastly, she is survived by her brother, Roderick Seeley; and her sister, Juanita Kelley.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Church of Christ, 165 Miller St., Horseheads, NY on Monday, August 11, 2025. Church service will start at 11:00 am, Celebration of Life begins at Noon, and lunch will be at 1:00 pm. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with Ellen's care.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, friends can make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38101, or by visiting www.stjude.org, click 'other' and 'donate in memory of."
