Elvira (Munoz) Salazar, affectionately known as Bitty, was born on September 28, 1951, in Beeville, Texas to Refugia (Hernandez) Munoz and Nolberto Munoz Sr. She devoted her life to her family and her career as a hotel manager and homemaker. Her journey came to an unexpected end on November 10, 2025.
Elvira was proud of her roots, having attended Skidmore-Tynan ISD, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and family. In 1971, she married her husband, Rafael Salazar, in Beeville. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and siblings.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Cuca and Nolberto Munoz Sr.; a brother, Baudencio Munoz; three sisters, Belia (Munoz) Garza, Beda (Munoz) Moreno and Bangelica “Chela” (Munoz) Cardenas; her daughter-in-law, Elisa Salazar; a nephew, Rocky Cardenas; and a niece, Cindy Munoz Solis.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include her husband, Rafael Salazar. She took great pride in being a mother to their three sons, Albert Salazar, Adrian Salazar and Vincent (Misty) Salazar. Her family grew over the years, and she cherished her role as a grandmother to six grandchildren. Additionally, she loved the bonds she shared with her three sisters, Bangelina “Bangie” May, Baudelia (Salvador) Andrade and Virginia Puga; two brothers, Benancio (Irene) Munoz and Nolberto (Casilda) Munoz Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
