Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Family Mortuary - Monte Vista on Oct. 7, 2025.
Emma Lou Lozoya, gracefully departed our world on October 3, 2025, in
Monte Vista, Colorado, at the age of 79. Born on May 27, 1946, in the picturesque town of Taos, New Mexico, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend who embodied the virtues of kindness, gentleness, and love throughout her fulfilling life.
The cavalcade of memories Emma leaves behind commenced in her vibrant hometown, where she was born to the late Jose C. Sanchez and Sulema Trujillo Sanchez. Her early years in New Mexico laid the groundwork for a life rich in joy, tradition, and family values. In 1983, Emma's heart found its counterpart in Heriberto Lozoya, whom she wed in Pecos, Texas. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Behind her soft eyes and warm smile, Emma was the revered matriarch of the Sanchez family-a role she cherished deeply. Her children, Lani (Erin) Suazo of Baltimore, MD, and Joey (Kristina) Suazo of Colorado Springs, CO, were her pride and joy, and she devoted herself to their upbringing with an unmatched fervor. Her loving embrace extended to her step-children, Francine (Sigifredo Rodriguez, Sr.) Lozoya of
Monte Vista, CO, Blanca Lozoya of Pueblo West, CO, and Harry (Nicole) Lozoya of Greeley, CO, together fostering a blended family that thrived on mutual respect and affection.
Embellishing the tapestry of her life was her treasured granddaughter Gracie Marie, who brought boundless joy to Emma's later years. Her compassionate heart also found room for her siblings: Andres (Rose) Sanchez, Mary (James) Jaramillo, Eva Qualls, Leroy (Wanda) Sanchez, Mike (Terri) Sanchez, Linda (John) Sanchez, Roberta (Mike) Ortiz, Rick (Janice) Sanchez, and sister-in-law Anita Sanchez. All these relatives, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, benefited from her gentle guidance and unwavering support.
In moments of leisure, Emma could often be found immersed in a book or on phone calls that stretched for hours as she connected with friends and family across the miles. She also harbored a fondness for the classic television series Perry Mason, which reflected her appreciation for storytelling that echoed her own understanding of life's complexities. Throughout her life, Emma's roles as a committed wife and mother remained paramount, and her adoration for her animals spoke volumes about her nurturing spirit.
