Mrs. Emma M. Scharff, age 73, our loving, caring, and devoted wife mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on July 27, 1950, in Imlay City, MI to parents Leo & Mary (Cervantes) Huizar. Emma met Paul Scharff and they were united in marriage on February 13, 1971. Together they shared 52 years of marriage, countless memories, and raised their four children. Emma’s caring nature led her to a career as a social services representative with The Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth for over 40 years. She was also a woman of faith and a member of Holiness Missionary Church in Vassar. Above all, family was most important to her and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (GiGi).
She is survived by her husband, Paul ; children: Chris (Dan) Germain, Lisa (Todd) Scharff, Tricia (Chad) Tedford, and John (Kristen) Scharff; nine grandchildren ; Katelynn Amend, Jacob Germain, Brianna Page, Katelynn Kreil, Cash Tedford, Emily Germain, Jenna Germain Avery Scharff, Austin Scharff ; seven great-grandchildren ; Benson, Mila, Genevieve, Gabriel, Brynnlee, Carter, Jackson mother, Mary Huizar; brother, Rueben Huizar; sister, Stella Huizar; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Leo, father in law Paul Sr. and brothers Russell and Roger Huizar.
Funeral services for Emma will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Hanlin Funeral Home – Vassar; visitation begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until the time of service.
Donations in Emma’s memory may be directed to the Michigan Heart Association.
