Enid Wheeler McNiece
Enid was born in Houston, March 5, 1931, and left us on May 5, 2025, at age 94.
Her memorial service will be held June 13, 11:00am, at Christ Church Cathedral, located at 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, TX 77002.
She was a lifetime Episcopalian, which led to memberships and involvement in Christ Church Cathedral, the Diocesan Episcopal Church Women (ECW), the Society of Companions of the Holy Cross (SCHC), the Center for the Healing of Racism, and many other church supported activities. Enid was a prayer warrior.
Enid spent most of her professional life as a bookkeeper/data processor. Perhaps she was most known by thousands for her 34 years of processing hundreds of thousands of livestock entries for the Houston Livestock Show. All of the staff, exhibitors and volunteers knew her as hardworking, reliable, accurate and kind.
Enid is survived by sisters Yvonne Vestal and Sandi Kaminski; sons Bennett Sparks (Rose), Steven Sparks (Debi), Larry Sparks (Jennifer); daughter Sidney Dawson (Tony), and extra daughter Linda Darby (Steve); multiple grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Jerry McNiece, granddaughter Lauren Sparks, beloved cousin Patsy Singletary; sister JoAnn Hudson; brothers Glenn Stowe, Louis Smith and Johnnie Smith; mother Dorothy Walker Smith, and father Vernon Claude Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following:
