Ernest (Ernie) Lee Leyva, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 62.
Ernest was born on July 12, 1962 in the Los Angeles, California area to Gilbert Leyva and Marie Frutado. He shared his childhood with his siblings, Linda Northup and Raymond (Ray) Leyva.
Throughout his journey in life, Ernest wore many hats. He served in the United States Navy, was a decorated firefighter and EMT, a pilot, a tugboat captain, and most importantly, a truck driver. He touched the lives of many and served as a mentor to all who knew him.
Ernest met the love of his life, Sandra Leyva, at a bus stop in El Paso, Texas-a chance meeting that led to 38 years of marriage. They embarked on their matrimony beginning on August 8, 1986. Ernest is survived by his two sons, Morgan Leyva and Garrett Leyva, and his only daughter, Hannah Leyva. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Noel, Mia, Leon, Vincent, Lyla, and Jeremy.
Ernest lived an adventurous life, pursuing his interests with all his heart. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm of firearms, his love for bluegrass and '80s rock, and his signature style-personalized suspenders, tan Dickies, and a red handkerchief tie.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
--- " I went to handling school, i can handle it" - Ernest Leyva quote
To contribute to Ernest's memories the family will be hosting a memorial service may 3rd at the Mesa place church 2pm.
