Ethan Mark Harland

Ethan Mark Allen Harland, age 17, of Palmetto, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2026. He was born on March 22, 2008, in Newnan, Georgia, the son of Mark Allen Harland and Danielle Renee Powers.

A senior at Northgate High School in Newnan, Ethan was actively working toward his goal of serving his country in the United States Navy, a reflection of his bravery, independence, and desire to be part of something bigger than himself.

Ethan loved his family deeply. He was goofy in the best way, loved being the fun guy, and never shied away from a little attention if it meant making someone laugh. He had a big personality, a quick sense of humor, and a heart that cared deeply for the people around him.

Music was one of Ethan's favorite outlets. He loved playing guitar and singing, though many would jokingly say his vocals left a little to be desired. Still, he sang anyway, because music made him happy, and that joy mattered more than perfection. He also enjoyed video games and spending time doing the things that brought him comfort and connection.

Ethan was genuine, loving, and incredibly smart. He was brave and seemingly fearless, yet soft-hearted in ways that truly mattered. He never liked leaving things unsettled and always owned his mistakes, offering sincere apologies when they were due. That quiet integrity spoke volumes about the young man he was becoming.

Above all, Ethan was a good young man, his life, though far too short, touched many, and his memory will live on in every shared laugh, every song played too loudly, and every moment of courage inspired by his spirit.

He leaves behind his father and step-mother, Mark (Lindsey) Harland; sister, Lillian; step-brothers, Hayden and Carsyn; mother and step-father; Danielle (Charles) Gossett; sister, Gacelyn; paternal grandparents, Glenda (Mike) Brown; maternal grandparents, Gary (Tamara) Harland; step-grandparents, Jimmy (Linda) Jones; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bo (Patty) Powers.
