Eugene Edmond Ganch passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023, at the age of 93. Eugene, or Gene, was born in Rákosszentmihály Hungary in 1930. In 1956 he and his future wife, Agnes Markovits, fled their country during the Hungarian Revolution. The Swiss government took them in as refugees and they lived in Basil Switzerland. In 1960 Eugene was offered a job in the paper industry, which brought them to Appleton, Wisconsin where they were embraced by the community. Eugene was an electrical engineer and was passionate about his work. In the early 1980's while working for Albany International he designed and developed the world's fastest loom controls for the paper industry. He traveled to Europe and around North America installing this technology. Eugene was an active member of the Moses Montefiore Synagogue where he served the community by maintaining the facilities and grounds. Throughout his life, he loved traveling with his family and close friends. Eugene was a quick-witted and very proud Hungarian who often quoted Hungarian poets, and proverbs in Hungarian as well as Latin. He loved music and was fond of Classical and Roma music especially.
Eugene is predeceased by his wife Agnes and his eldest son David. He is survived by his children, Daniel and Susie, her husband Jerod Eisenshtadt, and grandchildren Benelli and NamJin Ganch. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Red Cross.
There will be a burial service on Monday, October 9th at 1:30 at the Moses Montefiore Cemetery.
