Evelyn Oliver 1924-2025
She called herself "The Last Mohican" as she outlived many friends and family. She lived 101 years and saw more change than any of us could even imagine. She was the matriarch of five living generations. Born on the Rosasco ranch off Sutro Street in 1924, she was a true Nevada native, from a seven generation Nevada family. Her Father was born in Silver City and her mother on a ranch in Verdi. She was the bell of the ball at Reno High School, known for having a Model A with a rumble seat. World War II saw her active in war bond collection and the USO. She met Rich (Isidore) Ryczkowski at Stead Army Air Corps, and married him just before he de-ployed to the European theater. After the war they returned to Reno and started a family. Unfor-tunately her first husband passed away in the early sixties. After a time she met an old high school chum Stewart Oliver, they were married in the early seventies. Evelyn was a great bow-ler, and played golf well enough to play with the guys. They both were very active in the Elks Club and the Shriners, and the Girls and Boys club. The had a wide range of friends and trav-eled extensively. They spend a lot of time at their favorite spot on Maui where they golfed and enjoyed life. They spent a lot of time at Carnelian Bay, Lake Tahoe golfing there and boating. She wore many hats in her life, she helped her father in his laundry delivery business, worked for the school district, and did the book keeping for the B&O warehousing.
Evelyn and her brother George Brown built several shopping centers, did a lot of land develop-ment under Commercial Property Services, and had a special gaming license.
She had a very full life with family and friends, loved to travel and have adventures, was a social butterfly. Her close friends loving referred to her as "Brownie".
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Brown, both husbands, and her daughter Julie Flint, son Eddy Oliver, grand son Danny.
She is survived by her son John and his wife Mary, daughter Judy, grandchildren Tracy, Heather and Heidi, Justin, Matt and his wife Robin. She had five great grandchildren, Alexa, Cody, Jerry, Macie and Everett, and two new great, great grand daughters.
She passed away very peacefully the morning of August 2nd at a group rest home in Hidden Valley, where she received very special care in the last years of her life. She also was attended by Eden Hospice.
She will be interned at the Mountain View mausoleum, along side her husband and parents. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date to be announced.
