Mrs. Fawzia Girgis was the loving wife of the late Mr. William Ersan. She was the cherished mother of Inas Essak (Tharwat), the late Amani William (the late Victor Fachri), Erian Ersan (Nahla) and Karim Ersan (Lydia). She was the beloved grandmother of the late Mina, Rami, Fadi (Nardin), Dimyanna, Phoebe, Marc and Isabella. She passed away peacefully on September 10th surrounded by her family.
Fawzia was a loving, kind, and strong woman. She was born in Cairo, Egypt on December 27, 1932. She lived in Algeria, Egypt and the United States and spoke four languages. In 1956, she married her beloved William, and they remained married until 1981, when he passed. Her grandchildren meant so much to her. She loved talking with them and being around them. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. As she grew older, she travelled frequently between the United Stated and Egypt. She loved her home in Egypt and loved being with her family in the United States.
Growing up she had a special bond with Pope Kyrillos, who she knew during his time as a priest at St. Mina, Coptic Orthodox Church in Cairo. She loved to share the stories about all the blessings she encountered getting to know him.
Throughout her life, she embraced her faith. Her faith and love in God never wavered, even as she faced hard times. Her relationship with Pope Kyrillos only grew stronger throughout challenging times. She loved to pray, attend mass and listen to church hymns and services. Every day she prayed for her whole family and anyone that asked to be prayed for.
She will be missed and her memory will be eternal. We pray God will comfort her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Mary & St. Philopater Coptic Church 3615 Livernois Rd. Troy, MI 48083. Burial will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
Please, no home visitations, at the request of the family.
