Obituary of Fay N. Eng
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Fay N. Eng on November 17, 2024, just six days shy of her 76th birthday. A longtime resident of Freehold, NJ, Fay's life was a shining example of love, generosity, and resilience.
Born on November 23, 1948, Fay grew up in Freehold, attending Freehold Boro High School before graduating from Howell High School. She spent over 40 years in the Freehold community, where she built a life filled with family, friends, and countless cherished memories.
Fay dedicated 20 years of her career as a computer systems supervisor at Central Jersey Bank before concluding her professional journey as a claims examiner for Aetna. Beyond her work, Fay was an avid traveler who found joy and adventure exploring the world on cruises with friends and family. Her heart belonged to her second home in the Dominican Republic, where she reveled in the local culture and "ate like a queen."
Fay is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Eng, her beloved son, Stephen Eng, her daughter-in-law, Jessica Eng, and her pride and joy, grandson Alessio, whom she loved more than life itself. She also leaves behind her four siblings, Lillian Chu, May Wong, David Wong, and Eddie Wong, who, like many others, deeply respected and adored Fay as the matriarch of the family.
Known affectionately as "Momma Eng" by many, Fay's legacy is one of boundless love, comfort, and wisdom. Her humorous spirit and knack for life lessons left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Fay's warmth extended to family gatherings where her cooking always fed an army. She loved buying out the store at Sam's just to share a years supply of treats to children of all ages.
Her famous sayings, "Never show up empty-handed" and "Don't ever leave someone's house with them having something bad to say about you," will live on as guiding principles for generations to come.
Fay loved life's simple pleasures: indulging in forbidden sweets, long phone calls, shopping for clothes and shoes, and sharing stories-sometimes the same one five times, but always with meaning. She brought people together with her hospitality and unwavering belief in the importance of family and community.
Fay N. Eng was a woman of immense heart and unyielding strength. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12:00 to 3:30 PM with her funeral service to follow. Interment will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
