Fernando F. Mimoso, 86, of New Bedford, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born in Linhares, Portugal, he was the son of the late Eduardo Mimoso and the late Augusta (Pires) Mimoso.
Fernando was the loving husband of Edite (Pinto) Mimoso and recently celebrated 65 incredible years together. He was a fabric spreader and cutter for Grinnell Pajamas. Fernando enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and was exceptionally proud of his fig tree. Fernando, aka "Fast Freddy" as he was known amongst his friends and family, loved soccer and was an avid soccer player who had played for both the St. Michael Club and the Central Luzo Club for years.
Fernando is survived by his adoring wife Edite Mimoso; his daughters Lisa DeSousa and her husband Antonio and Mary Mimoso and her partner Mark Telfair. He is also survived by his brother Caesar Mimoso and his two sisters Mary Monteiro and Mary Jo Mimoso; his grandchildren, Chad Cabral, Kendra Medeiros and Cody Arruda; his great-grandchildren, Tatiana Gonzalez and Landon Cabral as well as several nieces and nephews.
Fernando was pre-deceased by his two brothers-in-law, Jorge Monteiro and Adriano Mimoso.
A private (family only) Visitation will take place at Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford on the morning of Friday, September 20th, from 9:00 - 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford and a private (family only) Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
