It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Fidelia Maestas, on July 9, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 31, 1940, in Alameda, New Mexico to Juan and Julianita Chavez. Fidelia lived a full and vibrant life. Fidelia was the loving wife of Manuel Maestas. They shared a love that we can only hope for. They were married for 68 beautiful years. Together they raised a family of four sons who will forever cherish her memory. As a devoted homemaker, Fidelia took great pride in caring for her family and was an amazing cook, known for her homemade tortillas, beans, and red chili. She also played a significant role in raising her grandchildren, providing love, guidance, and support.
Fidelia was a woman of great faith. She was a kind generous soul who always put others before herself. Anyone who entered her home was always welcomed with open arms and a hot meal or a cup of cafecito.
Fidelia was preceded in death by: her eldest son Cajetano Maestas; her parents Juan and Julianita Chavez; and Her brothers Polito and Leroy Chavez.
Fidelia is survived by her husband: Manuel Maestas; Her four children: Richard Maestas, his wife Donna, Roger Maestas, Eloy Maestas, his wife Antinette and Billy Maestas, his wife Angela; Her eight grandchildren: Maria Romero, Julia Maestas, Jessica Davis, Samantha Garcia, Lawrence Apodaca, Alicia Maestas, Stephanie Maestas and Daniel Crouse; Her eight great grandchildren: Isaaca Romero, Estevan Romero, Andres Romero Arianna Garcia, Alejandro Romero, Esteban Maestas, Santana Garcia and Alena Apodaca; Her great, great grandchild: Ava Martinez; Her two siblings Lena Dominguez, and Helen Crouse.

The private burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery for immediate family members only. There will be no reception. Thank you all for understanding.
Rest in peace, Fidi. You will forever be missed and always remembered. Until we meet again, we love you.
