Frances Ellen Billington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Lovingly known as Gigi, Geege and Franma, she was born on December 30, 1943, in Detroit, MI, to Emily Josephine Piotrowski and John Zarowsky–the oldest of 3 children.
On February 22, 1964, she was married to the love of her life, Thomas George Billington. They were later baptized as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed together along with their 2 children in the Washington DC Temple on March 30, 1978. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service.
Frances was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served willingly and faithfully in numerous church callings, including her favorite–Young Women's President. To this day, the young women she served remember how much she loved them.
Frances graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, and later graduated from Utah Valley State College with an AS degree. She worked as the Organic Chemistry lab manager at UVSC (now UVU). She loved her job, her colleagues, and students.
She loved to sew, cook, crochet, knit, tat, play board games and read. She loved music, having picnics in the mountains and loved the holidays–especially Christmas. But most of the time, she just loved spending time with her family.
Frances had many qualities: she gave wonderful advice, was kind and loving to everyone, loved to give hugs, loved to chat, she was always positive, always wanting to help anyone in need and loved to laugh. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren; she loved being a "gramma" and called her grandchildren her "precious fuzzies".
She is survived by her children Anne (Mitchell) Stott, Thomas (Mandi) Billington, her sister Nancy (Joseph) Maraj, sister-in-law Judy Billington, sister-in-law Mary Boland (Ray Beebe), and 5 grandchildren: Jared and Chloe Zeller, Kaden, Kailey and Rylan Billington, many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends, including her caregivers and dear friends at Canterbury Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Billington, her parents, her brother John Boland, her brothers-in-law: Donald, Frederick "Fritz" and Clare Billington and son-in-law William "Bill" Zeller.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 12:00 pm. at Kolob 7th Ward 840 South 400 E Springville, UT 84663. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30 am, prior to the service in the same location. Interment of her ashes will take place at the Provo City Cemetery at a later date.
Frances will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
As a family, we express heartfelt thanks to the Canterbury Assisted Living staff for loving and taking care of our mother these last few years. We would also like to thank the members of the Kolob 7th Ward for the service and love they have provided her, and our family, as well.
