Frances Lambertus Obituary

Frances Martha Lambertus, a longtime resident of Mahopac, New York, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter of Caroline J. Wieman and Joseph C. Noll, Frances was born on March 16, 1936, in Bronx, New York. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and later graduated from Cathedral High School in Midtown Manhattan. After high school, she worked for the telephone company on Canal Street in downtown Manhattan.
In 1954, Frances met the love of her life, Edward George Lambertus. Knowing how important her Catholic faith was to her, Edward converted from Lutheranism so they could be married in the Catholic Church. They were married on June 8, 1957, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in the Bronx. Frances and Edward were happily married for 60 years, until Edward's passing in 2017. They shared a love story like no other. The love and respect they had for one another was truly inspiring and their marriage was something to aspire to.
Together, Frances and Edward raised nine children. Frances dedicated her life to her family, instilling strong values and deep faith in her children. Frances was a loving and patient mother who made countless sacrifices. She played an active role in her children's lives, keeping them healthy, safe and engaged in activities. She volunteered at their schools as reading mom, librarian, office typist and chaperone on countless field trips. She drove her children to after school programs and attended as many of their sporting events as possible. Despite the busy schedules, she prepared full meals daily and held a weekly dinner after Sunday Mass to ensure her family spent time together. In her spare time, Frances was a talented seamstress and crafter. She could knit, crochet, quilt and needlepoint, creating clothing, blankets, ornaments and decorations.
Once her children were grown, Frances returned to work. She assisted with patient care at Waterview Hills Nursing Home in Croton Falls and later became a medical transcriptionist at Arms Acres Rehabilitation Center in Carmel, NY, where she worked until her retirement in 1996.
Frances and Edward loved to travel. In retirement, they visited the Vatican in Rome and experienced The Passion of Christ in Austria. They spent time at their second home in Myrtle Beach, explored many states and enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico. With family as her highest priority, Frances often traveled to be with her children and grandchildren, always ready to care for them whenever they were in need
Frances' faith in the Roman Catholic Church was a guiding force throughout her life. She and Edward were deeply involved in St. John the Evangelist Parish, where she was a devoted parishioner for 60 years. Frances was deeply empathetic and gave of herself generously to anyone in need, whether family, friends or members of the community.
Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was deeply loved and brought warmth and love to everyone around her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward George Lambertus. She is survived by her children Joseph (Barbara) Lambertus, John (Kerri) Lambertus, Diane Lambertus, Edward (Mayra) Lambertus, William Lambertus, Frances (Michael) Maturo, Barbara Rock, Jim (Kim) Lambertus, and Jeanie Lambertus. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Noll, and her sister, Anna Andruk.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, October 17th from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18th at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Ballard Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac Falls.
