Frank Hearn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Aug. 12, 2024.
Edward F. Hearn II, affectionately known as Frank to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, at his birthplace in Salisbury, MD, at the age of 79. Born on January 21, 1945, Frank's lifetime in Salisbury was marked by his unwavering commitment to his community, his deep love for his family, and his many contributions that touched the lives of those around him.
Frank was a proud graduate of Wicomico High School, class of 1963. After graduation, he began his career at the Telephone Company. He enjoyed working in many different departments over his 30+ year tenure, retiring in the Engineering Department. During his career he made many lifelong friends that he treasured.
His dedication to youth sports was evident through the years he spent coaching Little League and Salvation Army football, as well as his assistance with the Special Olympics through his community service with the Telephone Pioneers.
Beyond his service, Frank was a sports enthusiast, taking joy in being a member of the men's fast pitch softball league starting at the age of 14. His love for the game was only matched by the pride he felt watching his granddaughter play softball, a testament to his supportive and loving nature. Frank's interests also extended to the care of his garden, where he could be found tending to his plants and passing his love of gardening to his grandson Sean. His basset hounds were his constant companions, embodying the warmth and affection he extended to all living things. He also took great pride in his vast Antique telephone equipment collection, which his wife lovingly helped him acquire through many antiquing road trips.
Traveling with Ginger was one of his favorite pastimes, they traveled all over the country, enjoying the scenery and their time together. There were also countless trips to Disney World with his family. Frank always enjoyed the parks and the Magic of Disney as much as they did!
Frank's legacy is carried on through his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Leslie Phippin, and his son-in-law, David Phippin. His grandchildren, Taylor Wood, and her husband Walter Wood, along with Sean Phippin and his girlfriend Miranda, brought immense joy to his life. The light of his eyes, his great-grandchildren Lucas and Isabelle Wood, will continue to grow up hearing stories of their great-grandfather's loving and kind nature. He also leaves many special friends that were like family.
Frank is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Ginger Hearn, parents Edward & Ruth, Hearn, Father-in-law Wilson Powell, Mother-in-law Alice Hudson and Bill Hudson, brother Ronald Hearn, brother-in-law Thomas Powell and Great Granddaughter Harper Grace Wood.
We celebrate the life of a man who was the epitome of love and kindness. He has left an indelible mark on the world, not through grand gestures, but through the everyday acts of generosity and care that defined his character. Frank's memory will be treasured and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by his presence.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Edward F. Hearn II will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his love will continue to embrace his family and friends for generations to come. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My first memory of Frankie was when I joined the business office of C&P/AT&T team downtown Main Street in Salisbury, MD. I dealt with Frankie almost on a daily basis. He was always in and out of our business office. When situations arose, Frankie was cool, calm and collective. He was a very busy man but never took the pressures of his job out on you. Frankie was so very kind..kind of like a big brother figure. Rest in peace, Frankie. You have certainly earned and deserved.
