Mr. Franklin Dunbar, Sr. (also known as "Bim"), 63, passed away suddenly Thursday (August 14, 2025) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.

He was born in Homerville to the late Clarence E. Dunbar and Mildred Gamble Dunbar. He began his work career delivering newspapers for Waycross Journal Herald at the age of 16. He later moved on to work at Lee Feed and Seed and continued to do work with Mr. Russell Lee until his transition. He was employed with Bailey Monument Company for many years. Working with Bailey Monument is where Franklin picked up his passion of working in the cemeteries and assisting various funeral homes with work. Franklin was a hard-working man with an awesome work ethic. His passion was to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Dunbar.

He is survived by his wife, Phoebe Dunbar of Waycross; seven children, Terrance Thomas of Waycross, Tasha Holmes of Waycross, Cynthia Mobley (husband Willie, Sr.) of Waycross, Franklin Dunbar, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Durell Dunbar of Murfreesboro, TN, Michael Dunbar of Waycross, and Tyler Dunbar of Douglas; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Dunbar of Atlanta, Ga., Corey Dunbar of McDonough, Ga., Kathy Chapman and Karla Dunbar of Lithonia Ga., Stacey McCormick of Argyle, Ga., Marci Curtis of Douglas, Ga., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (August 23, 2025) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 o'clock.
