Franklin D. Mayer 90, of Sayre, Oklahoma was born on September 21, 1932, Willow, Oklahoma to Charles Edward and Eva Helen (Pierdolla) Mayer. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Frank was born in his home in Willow, Oklahoma. He was raised in Willow, Oklahoma and graduated From Ocina High School in 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War from April 2,1953 to April 1, 1955. He married Beverly Jo Taylor of Mangum, Oklahoma on September 3,1955. They celebrated 67 years of marriage together. They moved to Iowa Park, Texas where he drove a truck for John B. Barber. They moved back to Mangum, Oklahoma in 1956 and he went to work for the Mangum Police Department until 1957. He then joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was stationed in Lindsay, Oklahoma for one year and Healdton, Oklahoma for one year before being stationed in Sayre, Oklahoma. He served Sayre and the surrounding communities as a state trooper until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement Frank spent his time working on his farm as well as his home place. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, First Baptist Church, Sayre, Oklahoma. Pastor Andy Taylor will officiate. Interment will be at Willow Cemetery, Willow, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Mayer of the home; daughter Gena Lambert, and husband Jeff Lambert of Sayre, Oklahoma, three grandchildren Shea Bales of Sayre, Oklahoma, JJ Lambert of Sayre, Oklahoma, Devin Lambert and wife Katlin of Sayre, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Maridian Bales, Faith Bales, and Christian Bales, Ellie Lambert, Averie Lambert, all of Sayre, Oklahoma; one nephew Dennis Neal and wife Beverly of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Harold Brown, Charlie Mayer, one sister Ann Stuetzer, and his dearly beloved son Mike.
Memorials can be made to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Cadet Lawman Program or First Baptist Church, Sayre, Oklahoma in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, 906 N 4th Street, Sayre, Oklahoma 73662.
