Gail Dalton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laird Funeral Home on Dec. 31, 2025.
A celebration of life for Gail K. Dalton, 73, of Douglass will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:00pm at Laird Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Gail was born to Roy and Beatrice Gilbertson in Elmhurst, Illinois on April 11, 1952. She went to join our Lord and Savior on November 29, 2025, after a long battle with cancer and was surrounded by family.

A Christian at an early age, Gail attended Catholic school throughout her childhood. She graduated from Montini Catholic High School in Lombard, Illinois in 1970. She spent many years as a speed skater and won numerous awards.

Later on in life, she moved to Texas and gave up speed skating for the beach. Each year, she looked forward to her annual beach trips with her adopted sister and closest friend for almost 40 years, Judy Schulze. Gail touched so many people's lives over the years and was known as "the nana" to those who knew her. She had a deep love for all those in her life that cared for her and became extended family and friends.

Gail is survived by her husband and best friend of 38 years, Les Dalton; her son, Jason Walker and wife, Roquel and their children, Caleb, Kyrstin, and Shiloh; daughter, Jennifer Walker; daughter, Darion Taylor and husband, Tyler; son, Eric Haltom and wife, Becky and their children, Dustin, Dillon, Dalton, and Dakotah; son, Jimmy Dalton and wife, Annu; brother, Gary Gilbertson and significant other, Lisa; granddaughter, Ashten Averhart and husband, Bear.

Gail is also survived by a very large extended family and numerous indispensable friends.

The family would like to extend thanks to Harbor Hospice and her nurse, Brittany, for the care that was provided.
