Gail Shaw Norman, born August 3, 1947, in Austin, Texas, was a compassionate, dedicated, generous, and loving soul who touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. She was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a hand, and her strength of character was an inspiration to all. Gail will be remembered for the deep love she had for her family, friends, and the community she served.
Gail's life-spring was her faith; her dedication to the House of the Lord Fellowship Church was unwavering. During her 34 years of service, she held numerous roles, including staff receptionist, board member, and pastoral covering team member. She also led the Hostess/hospitality team, taught Sunday Classes, and coordinated repast meals for members who had went on to be with the Lord. Her love for the Lord was evident in her participation in the prayer and hospital visitation ministries. "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" (Acts 20:35) - this was a verse Gail embodied by, always putting others before herself.
Outside of her work in the Church, Gail was known for her passion for shopping and baking. She loved taking cruises with friends, stopping at every marketplace, and never missing a chance to find a unique treasure. Her baking skills were legendary, especially her seven-layered cookies and cheesecakes. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, eagerly looking forward to the family reunions that she wholeheartedly participated in.
Gail is survived by her mother, Gladys Shaw; her siblings, James Shaw Jr., Carolyn E. Hendricks, and Rhonda D. Piper (husband Orian L. Piper Sr.), Margaret S. Fitzhugh ; nieces and nephews, Andrea N. Hendricks, John A. Hendricks, Keisha R. Ortiz (husband Denis Ortiz Rodriguez), Orian L. Piper Jr., Chericka P. Musunza (husband Leo Musunza), and Jacob I. Shaw. She also has 4 god children including Keisha Ortiz, John Hendricks, Christian Berry, and Adrianna Maxfield. She was preceded in death by her father, James Shaw Sr.; her beloved husband, Alvin K Norman Sr.; and her son, Alvin K. Norman Jr.
We invite all who knew Gail to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Your stories and pictures will help us remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Gail Shaw Norman, a woman who touched so many hearts with her love, kindness, and faith.
