Gary Hooper Crabtree, 64, passed away at his residence, Monday, May 29, 2023, after a 2-year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 30, 1958, in Muncie, the son of Hooper and Osie (Hatfield) Crabtree. Gary graduated from Wapahani High School.
Mr. Crabtree was employed with Franks Foundry for many years before moving to
Marietta, Georgia in 1984, to work in construction. In 1990, Gary moved back to Muncie to continue working in construction until his retirement.
Gary's hobby was people. He couldn't go anywhere without running into someone he knew. He was an avid reader and very eager to learn. Gary also loved to travel to places like California many times, and to Spain with his son Kevin. When he knew that he wasn't going to get better, he enjoyed traveling to Florida, Tennessee, and San Francisco in 2022.
Gary enjoyed contemplating life, standing at the tailgate of his truck with a Bud Light.
Surviving is his wife, Donna Crabtree; son, Kevin (Hemanth Pydi) Crabtree; brother, David (Pam) Crabtree, Ohio; niece, Brittany (Michael) Alberson; special aunt, Jean Crabtree; cousin, Jerry (Shorty) Crabtree; great niece, Jaylynn Alberson; great nephew, Tristan Alberson; very special friends, Bill Wilson, Jeff Wright, Brad Herbert, Jesse Wilson, and Earl Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kendra Crabtree; and uncle, Earl Crabtree.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 3, 2023 at The Meeks Mortuary, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, with Pastor Scott Turner officiating.
Friends and family may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
