Lifetime banker and avid outdoorsman, Gary Preston Crenshaw, passed away on May 5, 2023 at the age of 77 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Gary's family and friends were with him through his illness.
Born to Betty and Bill Crenshaw in Fort Worth, Tx on November 3, 1945, he had to wait to meet his dad who was fighting for the Navy in the Philippines. He spent his first seven years living with his parents and grandparents on the family ranch. He moved with his parents to Graham, Tx in 3rd grade where he stayed until he graduated in 1964 from Graham High School. The University of Texas was his next stop where he graduated in 1968 with a BA in Business Administration.
After graduating, Gary married Julie Ann Lemmons, his high school sweetheart, in 1968. He began his lifelong banking career with First National Bank of Fort Worth, spending the next 44 years in the banking industry, finally retiring from Wells Fargo in San Antonio in 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julie, son, Clay Preston Crenshaw (Mary), and daughter, Libby Crenshaw George (Mike). Gary and Julie have five grandchildren, Lucy, Mary, and Peter George; and Graham and Henry Crenshaw. He is also survived by his sister, Betsy Crenshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Crenshaw and his brother, Billy.
Gary loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing lots of golf. Gary had a passion for cooking and all around him reaped the benefits. His favorite place was Possum Kingdom Lake where he loved the water activities and spending time with his family.
Gary was a man of deep faith and lived his life in service to His Lord. His humor, hugs, and goodness will be missed by his friends and family.
A memorial service is scheduled at 1:00 pm, May 12 at the Legacy Church of Christ in North Richland Hills, Tx. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Foster's Home for Children (1779 N. Graham St, Stephenville, Tx), Tipton Childrens Home (1000 N Broadway St, Tipton, Ok), or a charity of your choice.
