Gary Pope McKee

York, SC – Gary Pope McKee, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Born in York, SC on November 20, 1955, he was the beloved son of the late Olin McKee and the late Winnie McKee.
Gary had a passion for drag racing and was a thrill-seeker at heart, always drawn to the excitement of speed and adventure. A true hard outdoorsman. He cherished spending time outside and working at his shop, embracing every moment of daylight. Gary cherished his family and that was evident to all who knew him. Gary was a devoted family man, always putting those he cared for above all else. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rock Hill. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he adored them endlessly.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Renee McKee; his children, Destiney Stevenson (Daniel), and Brodie McKee (Maria) both from Rock Hill, SC; and his 5 cherished grandchildren, Hogan Stevenson, Anna Claire Stevenson, Sarah Beth Stevenson, Shepard Stevenson and Mattie McKee.
A Graveside service for Gary will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 1PM at Grandview Memorial Park 620 S Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Reverend Steve White officiating.
Gary's life was filled with love, laughter, and the joy of sharing his passions with those around him. Known for his vibrant personality and someone who truly lived life to the fullest.
