Gary C. Nelson

Gary Nelson, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, August 15. He was born on June 4, 1950 in Michigan. He was the son of the late James J. Nelson and Mary Layer Nelson. Gary attended Penns Grove High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam.He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, going to antique shops, driving in the country roads of Lancaster and walking the battlefields in Gettysburg. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he loved watching them grow up. Gary would do anything for anyone. He was kindhearted and never expected anything in return.Gary was married to the late Candida (Candy) Nelson for 35 years. In addition to his mother and father, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Nelson (who is survived by his wife Zaida Nelson).Gary is survived by his daughters, Calistena (Kelly) and Antonia (Toni) along with his grandchildren Josh Nelson and Jaylynn Weber. He is also survived by his brothers Jim Nelson (Helen), Mike Nelson, Steven Nelson (Donna), Kevin Nelson (Becky), David Nelson (Penny) and his sister Pam Nelson, 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Gary was also expecting his first great grandson in December.His memory will be celebrated on October 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Pennsville VFW. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
