Gary A Remner ObituaryGary Remner, age 76, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born December 15, 1948, in Cleveland, Gary made his home in Lake County for the past 37 years.
A devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, and dedicated teacher, Gary will be deeply missed by his children, Justin (Becky) Remner and Dawn Remner; and his beloved grandsons, Garrett and Owen, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Craig (Jane Quilty) Remner and Keith Remner; cousin William (Bunny) Bell, and his nieces and nephews, Lyndsey (Mark) Tenhonsel, Melissa (Jeff) Fowler, Jessica (Mat) Woods, Dan Roberts, and Kim (Chad) Flannagan. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Remner (née Bell), and his brother, Wayne Remner.
Gary was a dedicated employee at Euclid Heat Treating, where he worked for 47 years. His work ethic and loyalty were admired by all who knew him.
Outside of work, Gary had a passion for martial arts and proudly earned his 4th Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He competed in many tournaments over the years and later shared his love for the art by teaching cardio kickboxing in Mentor and Middleburg Heights. His classes were anything but ordinary-he crafted eclectic, energizing playlists that became a signature part of his teaching style. He loved watching his students grow stronger, both physically and mentally, and found great joy in their accomplishments.
More than anything, Gary loved his family. Whether he was cheering on his grandsons at basketball and football games, catching up with his children, or enjoying long chats with his brothers, Gary found deep joy in connection. His love for those closest to him was unwavering and unconditional.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Father Ian Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Mentor Cemetery.
Gary's legacy lives on in the love he gave, the strength he shared, and the music and memories that filled the lives of all who knew him.
