Gary O. Vergon, age 77, of Plymouth, passed away on Friday, February 7th. He was the devoted husband of Stephen Venuti. Brother of Cheryl and Tammy. Survived by his in-laws Dominic Venuti and his wife Meg and family, Donna Jenson and her husband George and daughter Jessica, Chris Venuti and family, Philip Venuti and his wife Andrea and family, and David Venuti and family. Gary especially loved his extended family Patsy Reid, and Donna Reardon and her husband Leo and family. As well as his loving doggies Benjamin and Enzo, who stuck right by his side for the last two days, and the late Abigail.
Born in Noblesville IN on March 30, 1947, son of the late Glen and Edna (Noble) Vergon. Gary was a graduate of Bedford High School and Vincennes University. He was artistic from the very beginning. Always known for drawing cartoons on the basement walls as a child. He worked with his family while growing up. They owned and operated numerous businesses, such as a movie theater, restaurant, donut shop, printing press, and a craft shop. Gary even owned his own dance studio for a period of time.
Later in life Gary moved to Florida where he was a manager for the restaurant chain the Colorado Public Library. He and Steve met in 1980 and Gary started his new career in Massachusetts as a manager for Filenes and later Papa Gino's. The two began their life on the South Shore and were married in 2008. Gary was always a big kid at heart. He would go anywhere with his nieces and nephews. Never saying no to hopping on the rides at Disney, Storyland, or Hershey Park. Gary cherished decorating Plymouth Crossings during the holidays and making the seniors smile. He always had his best friend, and surrogate mother, Patsy Reid by his side. When they weren't playing bingo, at the slots, or chatting in the corner at a gathering, she would be holding his hand and helping him through the numerous treatments he endured. Gary was loved and will be missed by many.
Services will be private. Donations in Gary's memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/manh, or to the Associates Christmas Fund c/o Plymouth Crossings, 157 South St. Plymouth MA 02360.
