Gavin Curran Obituary
Born in 1967 in Anchorage, Alaska, he was the son of Mary Jane (Doherty) Curran and Tom Curran, Jr., both originally from Massachusetts.
The family relocated to Cape Cod where Gavin attended school in Harwich. Followed by a move to Milton attending Fessenden, then graduating from Milton Academy. In 1990, Gavin graduated from Colorado College where he enjoyed being an avid skier. He returned to the East Coast and partnered with his brother Desmond in striped bass fishing and D&G painting. Throughout his life, Gavin was fascinated with the world of film and TV production. Gavin moved to New York City in 1999 and was sworn into the Local 52 Union of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). He pursued and succeeded at a career in the electric department rising to the level of best boy, rigging gaffer and gaffer. Gavin was also the Chief Operating Officer at Sustainable Studios, LLC, a successful sound stage in New Jersey.
In 2004, he married Laurie Turner in New York City. They had their son Hutch in 2007. As a Dad, Gavin enjoyed exploring all the city had to offer with Hutch and loved watching his son grow up. Gavin had an impeccable work ethic, a phenomenal sense of humor, a generous nature and touched the hearts of many.
Gavin is survived by his son Hutch Curran of West Bridgewater, his wife Kendal McTeigue of Martha's Vineyard, his mother Mary Jane Curran and her husband Donald Cameron of Orleans, his brothers Tom Curran of Los Angeles and Desmond Curran of Plymouth, and his sister Maeve Curran of Las Vegas.
A visiting hour will be held at Chapman Funerals & Cremations at 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, MA on Friday, March 15 from 5:00-6:00pm followed by a brief funeral service at the funeral home. All are invited.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Gavin's name may be made to Massachusetts Association for Mental Health at WWW.MAMH.ORG.
