Joshua J. Ortiz, age 46, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2025, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with colon cancer. Surrounded by his loving family, Joshua left this world with grace, strength, and the same deep love he gave throughout his life.
Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joshua adored his home state. A true son of Colorado, he found joy and peace in its natural beauty-hiking mountain trails, camping under star-filled skies, running along scenic paths, and spending time on tranquil lakes. His deep love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for family and friends.
Joshua found his professional home at Colorado College, where he served as Facilities Manager for 11 years. His dedication, integrity, and kindness forged lasting connections with staff and students alike, creating bonds that will forever remain unbroken.
On March 19, 2022, Joshua married his best friend and the love of his life, Kristi Kence. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and resilience.
Joshua is lovingly survived by his wife Kristi Ortiz; children Brian and Megan; stepson McClaine; adopted daughter Sydney; parents Beth and Roy Ortiz; sister Kori; niece Layten; grandmother Josie Klein; loyal dogs Moe and Johpo; and four cherished chickens. He also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and strength.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Colorado College near Shove Chapel. All who knew and loved Joshua are welcome to attend and honor his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made via Spotfund to assist the Ortiz family during this difficult time. Your support is deeply appreciated.
Joshua's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him. His strength, laughter, and boundless love will never be forgotten.
