Gayle Susan "Sue" McPhedran

Gayle "Sue" Susan McPhedran passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the age of 84 years.

Sue was born on February 22, 1941 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Harry and Gladys (nee Godin) Spiekhout. After high school, Gayle attended Central Michigan University for a year before meeting Gary "Bob" Robert McPhedran and falling in

love. They married on August 4, 1962 and went on to share many wonderful years making memories together before Bob's passing in 2013. Sue worked as a beautician while her daughters were little and later took on the position of Administrative Assistance with the New Haven Community School District and worked there for 33 years before retiring in 2002. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino; camping with their many friends; being involved in "Show on the Go"; figuring skating; planting flowers and canning. Sue loved her family and spending time with them up North at the cottage on Twin Lakes. That was her favorite place to be. She took trips to Florida every year to escape the cold Michigan winters. Sue absolutely loved the Detroit Lions and Tigers, she was an avid fan and loved watching their games. Sue and Bob were very involved in everything their two girls and grandkids did. She was a Girl Scout leader, coached sports and never missed a sporting event or

school activity. They were very community oriented and always willing to give a helping hand. Sue was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Tamara (Brian) Thomas and Tracy (the late Trevor) Hendee; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Burke, Bradley Thomas, Eric Theisen, Brandon (Lauren) Theisen, Courtney (Duane Egelar) Theisen and Kyle Theisen; great-grandchildren, Jack and Yuna; sister-in-law, Judy Spiekhout; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; brothers, Sydney Spiekhout, Dale Spiekhout, Bruce Spiekhout and Morris Spiekhout; and parents.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with an instate time of 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to the family to be used toward a few of her favorite charities.
