Gena Karol Winder

Gena Winder, 60, of Mt Ida, AR gained her wings on October 2, 2023 after a fierce battle with cancer. She was born on March 10, 1963 in Smackover, AR to Thomas Marshall and Karolyn Farnell.
Gena was preceded in death by both her parents, brothers Greg Marshall, Dennis Adams and Boyd Adams, grandson Logan Lundy, life long friend Darla Terry and of course Tom Petty.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Michael Winder; her children Melisa Langley, Jennifer (Jared) Mathews, Brandy Wathall, Michael Winder Jr, Kris Winder, sisters Melissa (Greg) Marsh of Maumelle, Doney (Beth) Oatman of Raleigh, NC; brothers Milton (Janet) Marshall of Monroe, LA and Butch Adams of Camden; Grandchildren Destiny (Lucas) Dush, James (Carlee) Walthall, Damien Walthall, Laura Palculict, Leslie (Juan) Martinez, Hunter Palculict, Catlin Winder, Tyson Mathews, Kaden Winder; Great-Grand Children Penelope Walthall and Hadassah Martinez; extended family Brenda (Lamar) Conway-Smith, Destiny Marshall, Randi (Phillip) Curry, a host of nieces and nephews, the Conway Family and life long friends Michelle Brumley, Annette Chandler and Lynn Martinez.
She was raised in Vivian, LA, moving as a teen to El Dorado, AR. She was a 1981 graduate of El Dorado High School.
She began her career with the United States Postal Service in 1996 as a Rural Carrier in Junction City, AR, transferring later to the El Dorado, AR Post Office as a clerk. Her dedication to duty found her traveling the state and filling many vacancies over the years. She was promoted to Postmaster of Royal, AR in 2010 before retiring in 2020.
She loved playing with her grandchildren and spending time with friends and family, always the gracious hostess. She enjoyed going fishing with Mike and reading her romance novels to him. She loved to travel and plan adventures with family and friends. She loved a good margarita and a 5 star hotel. She lived her life to the fullest and it was always top shelf. Most importantly, she loved Jesus and had a close personal relationship with him.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Caruth-Hale located in Hot Spring, AR on October 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
