Geoffrey Lynn Francis Xavier Flagstad, age 85, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by family. Geoff was born on May 15, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Eugene and Irene Flagstad. He grew up with a love of learning that carried him through a strong academic path. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and went on to attend Villanova Law School. Geoff first began his professional life in sales at Bell Labs in New Jersey, where his energy, determination, and talent for connecting with people became the foundation for his career. After moving to Chicago, he went on to build a successful equipment leasing company, Smith Wilson, Inc. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic carried him through a career he was deeply proud of. Geoff was the proud father of Daniel, Michelle, Brock, Ryan, and Lynne. He delighted in raising his family, filling their home with love, encouragement, books, and the occasional loud football game on TV. Outside of work, Geoff enjoyed a rich and varied life. He was an avid reader who believed in lifelong learning and education, a golfer and tennis player who thrived on friendly competition, and a traveler who loved taking trips with family. He was also known for throwing lively parties where his humor brought people together. After undergoing a quintuple bypass in 2009, Geoff moved to Versailles, Missouri, where he enjoyed a quieter pace of life, continued to read voraciously, and built a strong circle of friends. Geoff was also a steadfast supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous. Over the years, he not only found strength in the program himself but also gave encouragement to others. The friendships he made through AA were some of the most meaningful of his later life. He is survived by his children Daniel, Michelle, Brock, Ryan, Lynne, grandchildren Kyle, Alex, Hannah, Ila, Ethan, Matthew, Faye, Greer, Knox, Emilia, Elise, Eva, Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Eloise, as well as many extended family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Irene Flagstad, and his brother, Gary Flagstad. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Kidwell Garber in Versailles. Burial will follow at Versailles Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
