On August 19, 2025, the world lost a sparkling, shiny one. Beloved Sister, Auntie, Great Auntie and Step-Great Auntie, as well as cherished counselor, confidante and friend to many, and Sunshine everywhere she went, Trena Lee Sherman passed from this world in the same disarming manner in which she moved through it, leaving a trail of changed hearts in her wake. Trena was born July 10th, 1956 in Kansas City, MO, shortly afterward joining her parents, brother Jim, and grandparents at Lone Oak Point Resort in Sunrise Beach, MO, where she would spend her childhood years. She attended Hurricane Deck Elementary, and graduated from Camdenton High School in 1973. Afterward, Trena began working at Quality Industries in Versailles, MO, and spent her entire work career there, forging many dear friendships and influencing deep community bonds along the way. Trena spent decades participating in Special Olympics as a swimmer, until forced Covid quarantines in 2020. She loved her yearly summer vacations to Camp Wonderland in Rocky Mount, MO. She was a Dancing Queen, a lover of all kitties, a Zoo Maven, and a wonderful counselor for those in need of advice and encouragement, and a chocolate connoisseur. She loved to get out and see the world and was adventurous in the way only true ladies are - with an entourage. She adored and doted on and wrote letters to all her loved ones, and remembered us all. She was an amazing repository for the names and lives of those she befriended and met. She was friend to maintenance workers and doctors alike. She held us all accountable for our attitudes, words and actions, speaking aloud without hesitation the truths that others were often afraid to say. Simultaneously, there never was a greater vessel of God's Grace and forgiveness. She loved the color purple, and wore it regally. Her pockets were never empty, and she rocked-out hoop earrings and Mardi Gras necklaces, of which she had been given hundreds. The profound manner in which her beautiful presence influenced all those she touched cannot be expressed in words. A special acknowledgement goes out to Trena's dearest Friend, Jackie, whose letters of love and care package items are still overflowing from boxes and drawers of Trena's belongings. To Teri Humphrey, for countless hours of precious conversations on the Office porch. To Ciara and the Therapy crew at John Knox Village Meyer Care Center, and to Kenneth ("Dennis") and his big, gorgeous black cowboy hat. In Trena's recent words, "He's a good man." Trena was proceeded in death by her Father and Mother, Lee R. And Betty Jo Sherman. She leaves behind her brother James E. Sherman and wife Stephanie, loving cousins, uncle and aunt, nephews and nieces, and countless friends. Trena's family will be having a private Celebration of Life. However, if any should wish to honor Trena's life and accomplishments, contributions in her name may be made to local Special Olympics programs, Quality Industries of Versailles, MO, and/or to Camp Wonderland in Rocky Mount, MO. Arrangements are under the care of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
