George Wesley Giere, 83, beloved Husband, Father, Father-in-Law, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, Brother was called to his eternal resting place on May 6, 2024. He entered this world on March 28, 1941 in
Marlin, TX.
George wanted to make it well known that he was born a Texan and would die a Texan. He was born again at 13 years old and was baptized at 16 years old. George attended high school at the Southwestern Bible Institute in
Waxahachie, Texas from 1957-1960. During high school, he was particularly proud of cooking french toast for his classmates in the cafeteria, an activity which he continued throughout his life.
George married his first wife, Frances Wynell "Wyn" Shults on June 11, 1960 in
Austin, Texas. They enjoyed life together until she was taken to heaven April 2, 2003. He served in the US Air Force Active Duty from 1961, continuing his education during his career until he retired in 1981. He then served in Civil Service in
San Antonio, Texas and
Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1985 and retired in 2003. In addition to this, he was affiliated with the Assemblies of God and served faithfully in Royal Rangers from 1967-2001. He was the second person ever to be inducted into the Frontiersman Camping Fraternity through the Royal Rangers program.
On February 21, 2004, George married Joan Kinsell Treadwell and moved to Driftwood, Texas where he founded and served as the President and CEO of the Aquifer, a spiritual recharge zone for pastors and missionaries. Most recently and until he passed, he hosted a Men's Breakfast/Bible Study every Tuesday morning in the Dewberry Lodge located at the Aquifer where he continued his legacy French toast.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Wyn; his parents John H. Giere, Sr. and Addie Lucille; his brothers John H. Giere, Jr. and Boyd Giere. He is survived by his second wife Joan Giere; his son Darron (Paradise) Giere; daughter Stephani (Sheldon) Montoya, and son Kiwi (Shannon) Giere from his first wife, Wyn; and bonus daughters Tracey (Tony) Fifield and Jessica (Clay) Whitehead from his second wife, Joan. George was also blessed with twenty-three grand children, seventeen great-grand children, one adorable great-great granddaughter; his sister Dorothy McWha and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation with the family from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 with a memorial celebration to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby,
Kyle, Texas led by Pastor Zach Williams. George will be laid to rest at the Rock Creek Cemetery in
Duncan, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 with full Military Honors due a 20 year retiree of the US Air Force.
