George E. Humphrey, Jr. 'Jake', 58, of Maple Shade, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on March 10, 2024. Born on January 16, 1966, in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania, George was the cherished son of George E. and Ann L. (nee Thibodeau) Humphrey, and a beacon of light and love to all who knew him.
George was a proud graduate of Maple Shade High School, Class of 1983. An avid reader and writer, George had a great love for books and poetry. His legacy of words will continue to touch the hearts of his loved ones. Family was the cornerstone of George's world. He would call or visit his parents daily, reach out to his siblings to check in and had a special spot in his heart for his girlfriend, Eileen. His role as an uncle was one he took great pride in, always ready to surprise his nephews and bring joy to his great niece and great nephews. Most of all, he cherished the apple of his eye, his daughter, Jade. George's presence was a highlight at family gatherings, especially at Christmas, where he will be fondly remembered for instigating the much-anticipated Nerf gun fights. His sense of style was impeccable, and he was always the sharpest dresser in the room. Coupled with his intelligence and great sense of humor, George could light up any space he entered. He was an enthusiast of professional firearms shooting and training, dedicating time and effort to perfecting his skills. His passion for professional bodybuilding reflected his discipline and strength. The roar of his motorcycle engine was always something he loved as he got ready for a great ride. His ride was cut too short as he leaves behind his dearly loved family; his beloved parents, George E. and Ann L. Humphrey; his dearly loved children, Jade L. Humphrey, Devin O'Donnell and the late Eric Messick, his loving girlfriend, Eileen P. Hornbach. His brother and sister, Roger H. Humphrey, Sr. and Nicole Humphrey Drake will miss his loving presence in their lives as well as his nephews, Roger H. Humphrey, Jr. (Felicia), the late Christian D. Humphrey, Zachary Drake (Kate), A.J. Drake (Spencer), and Tyler Drake (Iris). He is lovingly survived by 1 great niece and 5 great nephews and dear family members and friends who will miss his generous spirit and the adventures they shared. His was a life that reminds us to seize every moment and to live with our whole hearts. George's chapter may have ended, but his story will continue to be written in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday from 9-11am at the Bradley Funeral Home 601 Route 73 South at Evesham Road, Marlton where a service to remember and celebrate George's life will be held at 11am.
